4. Settling in
In close cooperation with the parents, we ensure a gentle and individual familiarisation process to give the children a good start to life at the daycare centre. We are guided by the Berlin familiarisation model.
Why should you acclimatise your child?
Careful familiarisation makes it easier for your child to start at the daycare centre. Children under the age of 3 in particular need the support of a trusted attachment figure. A successful familiarisation ensures that your child enjoys going to daycare, builds relationships and that you can leave them there with a good feeling.
Role of the educators
Our professionals prepare carefully for the familiarisation process. They observe the children carefully and gradually build up a trusting relationship. This enables them to respond to the individual needs of each child.
What is familiarisation?
Familiarisation is a process between the child, caregiver and educator. Your child is given the opportunity to get used to the new environment and feels safe in your presence.
Familiarisation process
During the first three days, you and your child will stay at the daycare centre. The nursery teacher observes and slowly establishes contact. After a few days, a brief separation attempt will be made. Depending on your child's reaction, the length of stay is gradually increased. Familiarisation is considered complete when your child can be comforted by our staff.
How can we support you?
Your presence gives your child a sense of security. Stay in the group room without pushing your child. Even if your child appears cheerful, it is important to be close to them in the first few days. Talking to teachers or other parents can help to overcome insecurities. A positive attitude towards the daycare centre will be transferred to your child.
Goodbye
Say goodbye briefly and clearly. A short farewell makes it easier for your child to leave and reduces stress.
