Resonant Spaces
group exhibition in Kunstraum Potsdamer Straße
Spaces are disappearing - cultural spaces, spaces of exchange, cultural spaces, safer spaces and living spaces. At the same time, new spaces are being created: they are being fought for, shaped, appropriated and transformed. As part of ‘Resonant Spaces’, nine artists explore the dynamics of displacement and appropriation. The positions deal, among other things, with the disappearance of physical places and the memories associated with them. Some examine capitalist mechanisms and state repression. Others analyse how gender and sexuality shape social spaces and who has access to them. Last but not least, solidary and community-based alternatives are being developed. The artistic works draw on a broad spectrum of media forms of expression - from expansive installations to painting, performance, photography and film.
