studierendenWERK BERLIN rents 13 flats in this building to students. The selection of the occupants for these residencies is carried out in a special selection procedure (“flatshare casting”) in which the representatives of the existing residents of the project are also involved alongside studierendenWERK BERLIN.
To be invited to the casting, you must have already applied for housing through our applicant website, your application must be active and you must have residence eligibility according to the guidelines for renting housing with the studierendenWERK BERLIN.
For your questions about the casting process, the flatshare names one of its residents as a contact person and lets you know this person’s email address. The tenants of the flat decide together on the number of applicants to be invited. For the selection procedure, the tenants of the flat must observe the General Equality Act (AGG).
Located in the middle of Kreuzberg, this project was founded in 1977. The number of residents per flat at the STUK Project (students and people already living in Kreuzberg) ranges from one to ten people per apartment.
The buildings contain a total of 43 residential units as well as several commercial units. This house stands out from afar due to the glassy towers and the walkway over the flattened ridge, linking it to the neighbouring buildings. On the roof is a 70 square meter greenhouse and in the cellar, there’s a combined heat and power facility.
Within the scope of this project, several Wassertorplatz buildings originally planned for demolition were refurbished by residents themselves and a new plan for co-habitation of students and non-students was developed. The students were involved at an early stage in the redevelopment and conversion planning.
