08. Personal earnings

Your income as an employee (mini job, student temporary worker) of up to 520 euros gross per month remains free of charge.

Do you have e.g. B. in the period from 10/2023 - 09/2024 in total no more than 6.251,02 Euros earned gross, the funding will not be reduced.
If you earn more, around 78% of the excess amount will be credited and deducted from the funding.

The situation is different with income that you earn from the training relationship (e.g. intern remuneration/dual training). In this case, the law does not provide for an allowance.
Your earnings will be paid in full (minus the advertising costs of 100 euros per month and a social flat rate of 21,6% BAföG credited.
If you earn more, 78,4% of the excess amount will be deducted from your funding.

Do you work independently as a freelancer e.g. B. with a fee contract, the profit (income minus operating expenses) of EUR 420,92 per month is not offset.
If you earned more, the excess amount will be credited at 78,4%.

Your income is always calculated for the entire approval period and then divided by the number of months, i.e. an average income is determined.
