This dress code applies only to those walking the Practice Ball — the students participating in the course and the invited members of the Ballroom community. If you're joining as a spectator, you don't need to follow this dress code. Just come, enjoy the ball, and have a great time!
All participants must create their look using no more than TWO COLORS from the Progress Pride Flag. Shoes and accessories do not count.
Choose from the following colors and their meanings:
RED – Life
ORANGE – Healing
YELLOW – Sunlight
GREEN – Nature
BLUE – Harmony
PURPLE – Spirit
BLACK – Represents Black LGBTQ+ people and also honors those lost to HIV/AIDS, as well as the ongoing impact of the epidemic.
BROWN – Represents LGBTQ+ People of Color, recognizing their experiences, contributions, and the specific forms of discrimination they face.
LIGHT BLUE – Part of the Transgender Pride Flag and represents boys.
PINK – Part of the Transgender Pride Flag and represents girls.
WHITE – Part of the Transgender Pride Flag and represents people who are transitioning, intersex, or identify outside of the gender binary.
Be creative and build a look that highlights one or two of these colors in your own unique way. Different shades and materials are welcome. What matters is that your color concept is clearly recognizable.
Bring the energy. Bring the drama. Don't hold anything back. This is your moment to feel the music, command the floor, and let your true colors shine.
