The Pride Practice Ball

A ballroom evening to experience, discover, and enjoy. Live DJ.

Welcome to The Pride Practice Ball Brought to you by German Mother Mandhla Laveaux and German Leader Amowia Unbothered Cartier

This ball is your space to experiment, grow, and bring looks where ballroom elegance meets colourful expression. Whether you’ve been training hard or just stepping into the scene, this is your playground.

This is night rooted in the legacy of ballroom and the ongoing fight to be seen, heard, and celebrated. Pride is not just a moment or a season — it’s something that continues to matter, especially now, when visibility and community still have to be defended and protected. This ball is about holding space for that truth while honoring the creativity and resilience that define ballroom culture.

All participants must build their look using no more than TWO COLORS from the Pride flag. Shoes and accessories do not count.

These are the colors and their representations to choose from:
RED – life
ORANGE – healing
YELLOW – sunlight
GREEN – nature
BLUE – harmony
PURPLE – spirit
BLACK - represents Black LGBTQ+ people and can also carry a dual meaning of honoring those lost to HIV/AIDS, along with the ongoing impact of the epidemic.
BROWN - represents LGBTQ+ people of color more broadly, acknowledging their experiences, contributions, and the specific forms of discrimination they face.

Be creative, and bring it in a look that takes either one or two colors from the pride flag and make it phenomenal. Different shades and textures of colors are allowed, but make sure the colour story is clear! Bring the energy, bring the drama, and don’t hold anything back. This is your moment to feel the music, command the floor, and let your true colors shine through. Whether you’re walking a ball for the first time or coming to shut it down, show up ready to celebrate, connect, and leave everything out there.
