Residual Heat explores an expanded concept of “heat” through the movement of the body, beginning with a reexamination of the differences between thermal energy and heat. Drawing on artistic, cinematic, scientific, political, and social tensions, it examines the body’s movements as a system for generating and storing heat. Through the contrast between hegemonic Western perspectives and peripheral and tropical viewpoints, the artists reflect on how heat is perceived and generated both within and outside the body. Through this process, heat is understood as a relational mechanism that brings bodies together, and artistic practice is presented as a reflective and urgent gesture rooted in shared warmth and collective movement.
