Open Call: Freispieler*innen [Only in German]

The Freispieler*innen are looking for new members. Join the Studentenwerk’s theater group.

Are you passionate about theater and interested in developing and performing a play together?

The Freispieler*innen is the Student Union’s theater group, and we’re looking for new members for this summer semester. Every Monday evening, we meet at Freiraum to rehearse, develop, and learn the art of theater, and at the end of the semester, we’ll perform a play together. Previous acting experience is helpful but not required. The point is to learn something and have fun with the process and with each other. It’s important that you show up reliably for rehearsals and, of course, attend the performances.

This time’s theme: A more or less “poor little old lady” can no longer stand by and watch her daughter’s bitter divorce battle. She decides to seek help from the criminal underworld to help her daughter keep the children. What will come of this?

We want to develop our play loosely based on real events—writing dramatic scenes, assigning roles... but also thinking more freely. We will work together on choral speech, musical interludes, choreography, and much more. In July, we will perform the result of the semester twice (July 16 and 17, 2026)

The play will loosely explore the highly publicized custody battle surrounding Christina Block, the heiress to the Blockhaus fortune and a multimillionaire. The press has been following the case for years. It would be great if you could read a little about the case before the first rehearsal.

If this all sounds appealing to you, then get in touch! The application deadline is April 9, 2026—you’ll find detailed information below.

We look forward to hearing from you!
