Three positions, many angles

三角 (Triangle) is a Berlin-based collective formed by Myeonggil Shin, You Wu, and Sayaka Yoshii, who met in an MA seminar at FU Berlin. Their first project began as an independent zine inspired by Obangsaek (the five directional colors), with each issue exploring a combination of element, direction, and color. The first issue, Wood / East / Blue, reflects on local identity, social well-being, colonial histories, and the connections and ruptures within East Asia.

三角 — Samgak / Sankaku / Sānjiǎo —

We understand triangulation as both method and metaphor. We connect lines that emerge from where each of us is standing: a point, a perspective, an angle. Beginning as a triangle, this form remains open to expansion, imagining the emergence of further perspectives and increasingly complex, non-linear spaces. Through this process, we aim to measure, imagine, and create new spaces while making our individual standpoints visible. As three creators from different places, we consciously face where we stand today and allow a subtle triangle (미묘한 삼각관계 / 微妙な三角関係 / 微妙的三角关系) to unfold and expand.

The exhibition inaugurates the new Silberlaube art space located in the Mensa Silberlaube of the studierendenWERK. The art space presents one new exhibition per semester featuring works by students from all disciplines at Freie Universität Berlin. Participation is selected through an open call published on our website.
