Damage reports, such as a leaking tap or a crack in the tap, must always be reported via housing portal. There is an extra button for reporting a damage.
The washing machine room is located in floor 3. You can pay for the machines either with your locker coin/card or with your MensaCard (which you can get in the studentWERK canteens). You can top up your CampusCard or MensaCard at the top-up machines located in the canteens or visit the food truck that occasionally passes by the hall of residence. The rent is paid by direct debit (SEPA) around the 5th of the month for the current month.
If you do not have a SEPA-capable account in the first month, you can transfer the rent manually to the following bank account:

If you submit your SEPA mandate at the beginning of a current month, the direct debit still can be made from the 15th of that month. After that no further direct debits can be made after the 15th in the current month. If you do not submit your SEPA mandate on time, it will be activated for the following month and you need to transfer the current rent manually to studierendenWERKs Berlin bank account.
1. cancel first:
If you have decided to move out soon, you have to terminate your contract. To do this, log in to your housing portal and click on your current contract. The cancellation button will then become active. Use it to let us know when you want to move out. Your cancellation period is 6 weeks to the end of the month. This means you can always cancel on the 15th of a month to the end of the following month.
2. Make an appointment with the caretaker:
As soon as we are aware of your cancellation, you will receive a confirmation. We will then let you know when the caretaker will visit your room. He will tell you exactly what you still have to do before moving out. Please follow his/ her instructions.
3. organise the day of departure:
You must move out no later than 8 a.m. on the last working day before the end of the contract (Monday to Friday, except on public holidays and not on 24/12 and 31/12). Please make an appointment directly with the caretaker to hand over the key/coin. This will avoid waiting times and allow you to catch the train or plane on time. Please tidy up your room, kitchen and bathroom and clean everything thoroughly. If the room is not handed over properly, we will hire a cleaning company. You will then have to pay the costs. If you no longer need things, do not throw them in the household rubbish! Please dispose of bulky waste and electrical waste at the recycling centre. If you have a bicycle, don't forget to take it with you. Remember to place a forwarding order for your post and deregister at the Bürgeramt.
The deposit will be transferred to the bank account you provided no earlier than 8 weeks after the end of the rental contract, provided there are no outstanding claims.
If there were any defects at the time of your move-out, the processing time may be longer due to the need to request invoices.
Please make sure that a valid bank account is on file for the deposit refund.
If you submit a bank account from a non-EU country, please provide the following details:

- BIC / SWIFT
- Account holder
- Address of the account holder
- Name of the bank
- IFSC (Indian Financial System Code – for Indian accounts only)
