Residence Tutor Oberfeldstraße

Hello dear students,

I am Rita Mahlis, I live in Victor Jara since January 2022, I am originally from Jerusalem-Palestine and I have been in Germany for three years. I have lived not only in Berlin but still in many cities in Germany. Therefore I know the German system very well and I would like to explain the life in Germany to you and make it easier. I am also happy to help with questions about my university. I have been studying journalism, communication science and political science at the Freie Universität Berlin since 2020. I am also a journalist in parallel to my studies.
My native language is Arabic. In addition, I speak German, English and a few words and phrases in French :)

What I always like to do ...read..read..read! Besides meeting new people. Getting to know a new person and making contact with them is like reading a book. Every person has a story that deserves to be told!

I know that every beginning is hard. That's why I don't want to let you down! If you have any questions and need help, please contact me :)

Dear students,

My name is Vesko and I have been living in the Victor Jara dormitory since October 2021. Originally I come from Bulgaria, but Berlin has almost become my second hometown in the last few years. I am very happy to welcome you as a tutor from March 2022, and I will help as much as I can with your questions.

As a student of Scandinavian Studies at HU, I have a lot of experience with this program, and also with international exchanges. You are very welcome to contact me in this regard as well. As a member of the SSV I am also always willing to show you the sports fields of the dormitory, where I am also active.

Above all, it is important for me to make the beginning of studying in Berlin easier for new students. As a participant in several Erasmus projects, I know the feeling of being new in a foreign place. I offer my help especially for questions and problems concerning your stay in the dormitory and in Berlin in general. No matter if its formalities, problems with documents, or questions and ideas regarding our events - Feel free to contact me via email or in the Telegram group, or just drop by during my office hours. I speak fluent Bulgarian, English and German, and if you don't mind a bug or two, we can also talk in Russian, Danish or Norwegian.

Kind regards,

 Vesko

Hey students,

I'm Franziska and I've been living in the Victor Jara dormitory since the beginning of April 2023. I grew up in a village near Schwerin, then moved quite far away to Baden-Württemberg when I was 18. I lived there for almost 2 years before I came to Berlin. At the moment I only speak fluent German and English, but I am working on expanding my language skills to Norwegian.

In my free time I listen to a lot of music and write short stories. I also try to meet up with my friends a lot, which means I travel around Germany a lot. You can sometimes find me at parties, but more often at quiet events.

I've been studying Scandinavian Studies at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin since the summer semester of 2023, but before that I studied natural sciences at a university in Baden-Württemberg. So you are welcome to come to me with any questions about everyday student life. Since the beginning of your studies can be particularly bumpy, I would like to give you support to make it more fluent.

Kind regards,

Franzi
