10. Age Limit

 

The BAföG amendment of 2022/23 raises the age limit considerably.


Training assistance is now generally provided if you are younger than 45 years of age at the start of the training period (Bachelor's/Master's degree) for which you are applying for training assistance.


As a result of the new regulation, students who were rejected before winter semester 22/23 because of the age limit that applied until then can now receive support.
With the start of a Master's program, a new phase of education begins in any case, so that the requirements of the age limit must be (re)examined for this start of education.
If you start your master's degree immediately after completing your bachelor's degree, the age limit does not apply.
