German Courses

Here you can find offers of German courses for international and prospective students

To study in Berlin, you need German language skills for almost all degree programs. Most universities require a language level between B2 and C1. To help you find suitable courses more easily, we have put together a selection here. Unfortunately, only a few academic institutions still offer free German courses for people who are not enrolled, so you should regularly check for newly advertised courses and register for them as soon as possible.

To make good use of the waiting time until a course starts, you can find excellent online offers to continue improving your German at make-it-in-germany.com/deutschkurse and handbookgermany.de/learning-german.

If you only want to take a language test without attending a course beforehand, you can apply to the Educational Guidance Guarantee Fund for Higher Education (Bildungsberatung Garantiefonds Hochschule) to cover the costs: https://bildungsberatung-gfh.de/

Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin - University of Applied Sciences

Do you have a residence permit as a refugee and are interested in studying at HTW Berlin? If you have German B2 language skills and direct university entrance qualifications (HZB), then our preparatory course is just right for you!

A limited number of places can be allocated to refugees for the course starting on April 6. In this case, the course fees will be covered.
Please apply by March 20 at the latest here:
https://www.htw-berlin.de/en/international/pathways-to-htw-berlin/htw-foundation/htw-foundation-application-form/

The following documents are required for the selection process:

• Identity card
• Proof of refugee status
• HZB in German or English
• B2 German certificate
• A short letter of motivation (reasons why you would like to participate in the course AND details of your intended course of study at HTW Berlin, including reasons why you have chosen this subject)

There is no legal entitlement to a place on the course. The selection process is expected to be completed by the end of March/beginning of April.

We look forward to receiving your application.
If you have any questions, please send them to admfound@htw-berlin.de
