for the advisory and counselling services of studierendenWERK BERLIN

These house rules apply to the following advisory and counselling services of studierendenWERK BERLIN:

• Beratung Finanzierung & Soziales (BFS)
• Beratung Barrierefrei Studieren (BBS)
• Psychotherapeutische Beratungsstelle (PBS)

at the following locations:

• Hardenbergstraße 34/35, 10623 Berlin
• Franz-Mehring-Platz 2, 10243 Berlin
• Thielallee 38, 14195 Berlin

Our advisory and counselling services are safe spaces for people seeking support. To ensure that everyone feels safe, respected and well looked after, please observe the rules below.

House.

1. Authority on the premises
The advisory and counselling services are facilities of studierendenWERK BERLIN. The authority on the premises (right to issue instructions and enforce these rules) lies with the relevant Head of Division.

2. Access and staying on the premises

  • Access to counselling and therapy rooms is only possible with a confirmed appointment or following an invitation.
  • Areas intended for public access (e.g. reception, secretariat, waiting areas) may be used exclusively for arranging appointments or as part of drop-in/open consultation hours.

3. Animals
Animals are only permitted to enter our facilities by prior arrangement.
Exception: Guide dogs and certified assistance animals. Our therapy dog (PBS) also accompanies certain services and is expressly part of our counselling concept.

4. No smoking
Smoking is prohibited in all rooms.
This also includes e-cigarettes and comparable products.

5. Safety

  • Escape routes and emergency exits must be kept clear at all times.
  • Corridors, passageways, stairwells and emergency exits must not be blocked.

6. Advertising and materials
Putting up posters, setting up stalls, and distributing or leaving flyers, information materials, advertising or propaganda is not permitted.

7. Personal belongings
Please take care of your coat, valuables and other personal belongings.
The studierendenWERK BERLIN accepts no liability for these items.

People.

8. Respectful interaction and protection from discrimination
Our advisory and counselling services are places of support, trust and appreciation. We expect everyone on the premises to behave in a way that does not harm, endanger, harass or unreasonably inconvenience anyone beyond what is unavoidable.

Discrimination, demeaning behaviour or exclusion have no place here.
This applies regardless of actual or attributed characteristics such as, for example, origin, skin colour, language, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, chronic illness, social status or age.

The following are also prohibited:

  • harassing, intrusive or intimidating behaviour
  • sexist, racist, antisemitic, ableist, anti-queer/anti-LGBTQ+ or other dehumanising statements
  • content that glorifies violence, is insulting or extremist – including in symbols, clothing or materials

In the event of breaches, we reserve the right to take consistent action in
order to preserve this safe space for everyone.

9. Instructions and removal from the premises
Instructions issued by employees of studierendenWERK BERLIN, and where applicable also by the police, fire service, security services or emergency services, must be followed.
Anyone who intentionally or negligently ignores instructions may be required to leave the building and may also, where appropriate, be issued with a ban from the premises.
