Residence hall tutors Oberfeldstraße

Hello dear students,

I am Rita Mahlis, I have been living in Victor Jara since January 2022. I am originally from Jerusalem-Palestine and have been in Germany for three years. I have not only lived in Berlin, but in many cities in Germany. That's why I know the German system well and would be happy to explain and make life in Germany easier for you. I'm also happy to help if you have any questions about my university. I have been studying journalism, communication science and political science at the Free University of Berlin since 2020. I also work as a journalist alongside my studies.
My native language is Arabic. I also speak German, English and a few words and sentences in French :)

What I always like to do...read..read..read! Also getting to know new people. Getting to know a new person and making contact with them is like reading a book. Everyone has a story that deserves to be told!

I know that every beginning is difficult. That's why I don't want to let you down! If you have any questions and need help, please contact me :)

 Dear Students,

My name is Vesko and I have been living in the Victor Jara dormitory since October 2021. I'm originally from Bulgaria, but Berlin has almost become my second hometown in recent years. I am very pleased to be able to welcome you as a tutor since March 2022 and will help as much as possible with any questions.

Since I am a student of Scandinavian studies at the HU and am familiar with the course of study and have also taken part in several international exchanges, you are welcome to contact me about this. As a member of the SSV, I am always willing to show you the sports fields in the dormitory, where I am also active.

Above all, it is important to me to make it easier for new students to start studying in Berlin. As a participant in several Erasmus projects, I know what it feels like to arrive in a new place. I offer my help especially with questions and problems regarding your stay in the dormitory and in Berlin in general. Be it formalities, problems with documents or questions and ideas about our events - you are welcome to contact me by email or in the Telegram group, or you can simply stop by during my office hours. I speak fluent Bulgarian, English and German. If you don't mind one or two mistakes, we can also talk in Russian, Danish or Norwegian.

Best regards,

Vesko

Hey students,

I'm Franziska and I've been living in the Victor Jara dormitory since the beginning of April 2023. I grew up in a village near Schwerin, then moved quite far away to Baden-Württemberg when I was 18. I lived there for almost 2 years before coming to Berlin. At the moment I only speak German and English fluently, but I am working on expanding my knowledge of Norwegian.

In my free time I listen to a lot of music and write short stories. I also try to meet up with my friends a lot, which means I travel around Germany a lot. You can sometimes find me at parties, but more often at quiet events.

I have been studying Scandinavian studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin since the summer semester of 2023, but before that I studied some natural sciences at a university in Baden-Württemberg. You are also welcome to come to me if you have any questions about everyday student life. Since the beginning of your studies can be bumpy, I would like to give you support to make it more fluid.

 Best regards,

 Franzi
