Training as a chef

During your training to become a chef, you will learn the different work steps within a modern commercial kitchen. 

These include, among others:

  • Get to know cooking methods and how to use them
  • Processing of various types of meat, fish, fruits and vegetables
  • Production of various soups, salads, side dishes, starters, desserts and sweets
  • Creation of meal plans
  • Central purchasing of ingredients via the computer-supported merchandise management system
  • Proper storage of food

In addition, hygiene, occupational safety and environmental protection will be important aspects of your training.

For successful training we expect:   

  • completed an internship in the catering sector
  • Passion for cooking
  • good marks
  • low absenteeism
  • strong willingness to learn

Well prepared for the exam

We want you to do well in your exams. For this reason, you will receive additional practice sessions if necessary. For teaching that we cannot provide ourselves for operational reasons, we organize internships in partner companies from the catering or hotel industry. There are collaborations with suppliers to expand your knowledge of products and goods.

 

The dual cooking training takes place in the cafeteria studierendenWERKs BERLIN completed at the Free University of Berlin. School training takes place at the OSZ – Brillat-Savarin.
