The studierendenWERK It is important to BERLIN to support its employees in balancing the various requirements of work and family. We have been certified by the berufundfamilie audit since 2009. We would like to introduce you to some of our measures here.

working hours

Flextime accounts

Flextime employees can build up a maximum flexitime credit equal to their weekly working hours and use the majority of these hours flexibly.

In the event of family emergencies, the working time account can also be overdrawn.

Schedule time accounts

Employees in the coffee bars and daycare centers can use the working time credit in consultation with their superior.

Fixed working hours

We try to accommodate colleagues who work according to a roster and are dependent on a set working time for family reasons. If there is no opportunity at the current job, we will check whether a transfer can be remedied.

Part-time models

We support employees who want to work part-time for family reasons, provided there are no operational reasons to the contrary. The studierendenWERK BERLIN offers various weekly hourly models for the specific regulation of part-time work.

sabbaticals

Employees from the coffee bars of the studierendenWERKs have the opportunity to earn longer paid time off on busy days. During the lecture-free periods, such exemptions can be made from working time credits plus vacation.

Vacation

When drawing up the vacation plan, the special concerns of employees with children and employees with relatives in need of care are given priority. In special family situations, short-term leave can be granted - up to longer-term (unpaid) leave for family reasons.

Working at home

In acute family emergency situations, employees can work from home for a short time. The prerequisite is that at least some of the work tasks can be carried out from home without additional operational and organizational effort and, as a rule, no hardware or software is required on the part of the person studierendenWERKs must be provided.

For employees who take family-related leave (parental leave, care leave), we offer a contact retention or re-entry program.

Care information folder

Our company social worker has an information folder on the topic of care for affected employees. The care information folder contains a lot of important information about financing and carrying out care, exemption options, relief options for carers as well as useful brochures and addresses. If necessary, employees receive additional advice.
