Meeting the challenges of a shortage of skilled workers and digital change

As part of the reorganization project "Transformation Department I: 2021" initiated in 2025, the Department of Human Resources and Finance continued its efforts in 2022 to adapt its own structures to the changing conditions, such as the shortage of skilled workers and advancing digitalization. The new organizational structure is aimed at implementation by 2025.

Energy flat rate

In accordance with the legal resolution, the one-off energy price allowance of 2022 euros was paid to employees in September 300.

Adjustment of remuneration for student assistants

As a result of the increase in the federal minimum wage to 12 euros per hour as well as the tariff increases on April 1, 2022 and in view of the current economic situation of students, this has studierendenWERK BERLIN adjusted the hourly rates for its student assistants (“Study & Workers”) as of October 1st. The number of employees remained the same compared to the previous year, and the number of trainees also increased in 2022.
During the reporting period, two trainees started in the administration department and two started training to become chefs.

Most people still work in the canteens studierendenWERKs, followed by the daycare centers, which are assigned to the “Student Life” department.

The average age of the employees studierendenWERKs BERLIN rose slightly again. The sickness rate increased by 1,9 percent.

There were 22 retirements in 2022 - significantly more than in the same period last year studierendenWERK. This trend will continue - over the next 15 years, a good half of the workforce will retire. Recruiting young specialists will therefore continue to have top priority.

The number of job advertisements and new hires increased significantly in 2022. As a result, the number of applications processed has also increased significantly.
