Berlin is the capital of Germany and a global city full of international knowledge and culture, with numerous cultural and educational institutions.

Berlin itself is one of the 16 federal states of Germany and with approx 3,7 million inhabitants the largest city in the country in terms of area and population.

With his 42 public and private universities and colleges, a wide range of social events and activities, and a low cost of living, it is no surprise that the city-state attracts a large number of young people; Over 30 percent of Berlin's population is under 30 years old. Thanks to its Central European location, Berlin is also very multicultural; uOver 34 percent of the population has a migrant background, many come from Turkey, Eastern Europe and Russia as well as from Africa and Asia. Berlin is therefore both an international and global city that is known for its cosmopolitanism. The residents of Berlin come from over 190 nations. In addition, international students make up almost 16 percent of students at Berlin's colleges and universities.

Public transport in Berlin is provided by the BVG managed. The costs for using public transport in the ABC tariff zone are included in your tuition fees and you can easily use them with your student ID.

As soon as new students arrive in Berlin, they must register with one within 14 days Report to the citizen's office report within the district of residence.
