From October 2023 to April 2024 the writing center of the studierendenWERKs BERLIN is once again recruiting student writing consultants (writing peer tutors). With us you will learn to advise other students on their academic writing projects according to the motto “Help them help themselves”. The training is free.

The training consists of face-to-face appointments and self-study times in which tasks are completed in writing. On average, it takes 4 hours per week.

The training is divided into 5 modules:
Module 1: Reflection on your own writing actions
Component 2: Scientific writing and scientific style
Module 3: Basics of writing advice
Module 4: Text feedback and writing in the second and foreign language
Module 5: Practical phase / observation in writing advice and first own consultations / observation at our writing events (e.g. writing week)

After successful completion of the training, there is the opportunity to work as a student writing consultant in the writing center studierendenWERKs BERLIN to work.
Your tasks will include advising students on questions about academic writing, teaching writing strategies, conducting workshops and participating in writing events (writing marathon, writing week, etc.).

What do we expect from you?

• Interest in reading and academic writing
• Willingness to self-reflect on your own writing and consulting activities
• Social and intercultural competence and the desire to expand these
• Willingness to complete all modules of the training
• Regular participation in face-to-face meetings
• Submission of a training journal in written form at the end of the training
• Willingness to work in the writing center after the end of the training
