Writing groups

Long-term support from A - Z

To accompany you on your writing project over a longer period of time, we offer different writing group formats.

Overview of writing groups

The theses writing group is aimed at Bachelor and Master students from all disciplines who are writing their thesis and already have a topic and question for their work.
At 10 appointments of three hours each, participants are offered a writing didactic framework in which to regularly write their own final thesis.
Each appointment consists of writing didactic input on changing topics (e.g. time planning, tips for reading, finding the flow of writing) and an individual writing time in which everyone can write their own thesis and get advice if necessary.
We regularly exchange ideas about challenges and successes in the writing process.

At 9 appointments of three hours each, participants are offered a writing didactic framework in which to regularly write their own final thesis.

Do you find it difficult to find regular times to work on your thesis?

Do you tend to feel isolated when you write?

Would you like to benefit from a motivating atmosphere, informative input, immediately applicable writing strategies and a safe space for exchanging ideas with other students in the final phase of their studies?

Then you should apply for our thesis writing group!

Target group:
Students from all disciplines who want to work on a bachelor's or master's thesis.
It doesn't matter whether you have just started, are in the middle or are about to finish, no previous knowledge is necessary.

The online writing group “Homework in six weeks” is aimed at students who would like support and guidance when writing their homework or seminar paper.

With input on the individual topics and in exchange with others, you will go through the process of writing a scientific paper from start to finish.

In the first 60 minutes of each appointment, the individual topics are dealt with from a practical perspective - there are exercises and tips as well as materials with which you can continue working independently.

In the second part of each appointment you write your own text. At the end of your time together, you reflect on your process with the other participants.

Participation requirement:
Your own writing project to be worked on as part of the writing group as well as mandatory participation in all writing group appointments.

We support your self-organized writing group.

Writing in a group is motivating - even online, because studying can be very lonely, especially in times of home office and online lectures.
Writing in a writing group brings social exchange back into the writing process and helps with structure and practical writing impulses. The good thing: You can organize a writing group yourself with little effort. The Writing Center at TU Dresden has one for this Starter kit for learning and writing groups created.

You are welcome to write in a group in one of our weekly Online writing times try out.
There you will definitely find other students who are interested in a self-organized writing group.

Are you already organized in a writing group that is still looking for members? We would be happy to pass on your contact to anyone interested.

If you would like to set up a writing group and need tips on organization and process, or if you have questions within a group, then it is also possible via our Contact form or schreibberatung@stw.berlin to receive a consultation appointment with us as a group.
