Who is coming to us?

You are not sure whether you have come to the right place with your problem?
Here you will find examples from students why they came to us and how the conversation helped them.
We are responsible for all students at universities who... Cooperation with the studierendenWERK BERLIN have.

Kim*, 21 years old:

“In the last few years I have become very withdrawn and really afraid of others.
I found out about psychotherapeutic counseling through the Internet.
My therapist made me feel good right from the start.
This allowed me to talk about my insecurities about my sexual identity and orientation for the first time.
We are currently considering contacting a trans*-specific advice center. I realize there’s a long road ahead, but right now I’m less afraid.”

Lina*, 27 years old:

"My father died of cancer. I did a little less in my studies, but that's okay, it's just going on.
But I felt so alone with my feelings, even though I have really good friends and a relationship. At some moments I didn't know what to do: go out or be alone? To be addressed or not? In the conversations with the therapist from PBS I was able to understand myself and my feelings better."

Meng*, 20 years:

“I always had good performances. Now my boyfriend broke up with me and I fell into a deep hole. I can't pull myself together, I'm tired and sad. Everyone tells me to forget him. But I can hardly concentrate and I'm afraid I won't be able to complete my studies.
With the therapist at the psychological counseling center I was able to sort myself out and get a new perspective on my situation, which was very good.”

Tom*, 26 years old:

“My parents didn’t study. You don't understand what I'm doing. For them, I don't really belong anymore. Unfortunately they can't help me with my problems. They don't know how to write homework, etc. The university challenges me and I always have to work. Many of those I started with have already finished their studies. I wonder if I even belong at the university. Continue, change or quit? My psychotherapist at the counseling center accompanies me in my decision-making process.”
