Technology fund for students

Students can apply for technical support here shortly.

Support for the digital semester

Studying in the digital summer semester 2020 must not fail because of a missing laptop. That is the goal of a joint initiative of the studierendenWERK and the Senatskanzlei – Wissenschaft und Forschung.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Berlin universities had to switch their seminars and lectures to online formats within a very short time, but not all students have the necessary equipment at home for digital studies or can afford one at short notice.

studierendenWERK BERLIN obtained feedback from the students in a short survey: only 60 percent of the survey participants stated that they did not need any additional technology. 14 percent need additional equipment such as a webcam, microphone or loudspeaker. Only 2 percent have no device at all. All others consider their devices to be unsuitable for the digital summer semester in one way or another.

The results of the survey can be found here in detail.

The technology fund of studierendenWERK BERLIN has been set up to help students concerned with the purchase of the necessary equipment. As of 4 May, students can express their interest in funding via the website of the studierendenWERK BERLIN.

The studierendenWERK BERLIN is currently seeking donations to the fund.

Donations to the fund can be made to the following account:
