We live in an era characterized by profound social, technological, and political changes. Amid crises, new opportunities, and a constant stream of information, not only is the world around us shifting, but also our perception, our interactions with one another, and our inner emotional landscapes.
For its 2027 exhibition program, KUNSTRAUM Potsdamer Straße is looking for students from our partner universities who engage artistically with the emotional realities of their generation and develop strategies for new creative spaces.
What shapes our emotions, fears, hopes, and dreams? What visions of the future emerge in a world of constant change? How do social developments, digital spaces, political shifts, and technological innovations influence our thinking, actions, and relationships?
How does the drive for self-optimization shape our self-image? Who defines the ideals of beauty, success, and identity? What role do algorithms and artificial intelligence play in creativity, perception, and truth? And how can art help make emotions visible, process them, and create new spaces for exchange and connection?
We understand these questions as a starting point and overarching theme, rather than a strict requirement. We are looking for exhibition concepts that independently interpret the annual theme and open up personal, social, or research-based perspectives. A particular focus of the 2027 exhibition year is interdisciplinary collaboration.
We want to bring together students from various disciplines and enable new perspectives on art, research, and social issues. Different perspectives and working methods enrich the exhibitions; interdisciplinary approaches are welcome, but not mandatory.
The open call is aimed at students of all disciplines enrolled at one of the partner universities of studierendenWERK BERLIN.
Applications are welcome from both individuals and collectives.
Exhibition concepts from all fields of contemporary art as well as cross-media works (photography, painting, sculpture, installation, video, performance, fashion, sound, digital media, or experimental formats) are welcome.
Projects from other fields of study as well as works created within the framework of research or study projects are also expressly encouraged.
KUNSTRAUM Potsdamer Straße offers students the opportunity to realize their own exhibition concepts within a professional exhibition framework. Our team accompanies the realization of the projects with curatorial and organizational support. In doing so, we collaborate with various student initiatives and self-organized groups that develop exhibitions and artistic formats across universities. This call for the 2027 exhibition season focuses on project ideas to be realized in the Parkhausgalerie on the ground floor.
For your application, please submit an exhibition concept, a short CV, a portfolio, and a current enrollment certificate.
Only students enrolled at one of the partner universities of studierendenWERK BERLIN are eligible to apply.
