Learn how to develop analogue film and mix sets at the DJ decks.
Images and beats during your semester break!
In this workshop, you will learn the basics of analogue film development and DJing under professional guidance – no prior experience required. Together with other students, you will spend a relaxed and creative afternoon and immerse yourself in two exciting artistic worlds.
Instead of dropping off your film at a high-street photo lab, you will develop your black-and-white analogue 35mm film yourself in the darkroom. You bring a film that you have previously shot on a photo walk, on holiday or during the festive season, and will be introduced on site to the chemical basics of film development. Using the provided materials, you will independently develop your film and have it in your hands by the end of the day. After the film has dried overnight, we will discuss the resulting photographs together with a photographer and graduate of the Ostkreuz School of Photography and the Berlin University of the Arts. She will give insights into her work, share feedback on the images and provide tips on how you can express yourself even more effectively through photography.
At the same time, DJ JAMera will give you hands-on guidance on the basics of DJing at the mixing desk: from mixing and transitions to beatmatching and preparing your own set. This is your chance to discover your own sound and gain your first DJ experience.
Please bring an analogue black-and-white 35mm film (Agfapan, Rollei, Fuji, Ilford or Kodak). No prior knowledge is required. Artistic direction is provided by DJ JAMera and Michael Schulte.
