CultureTrip: hiking trip to the Pfaueninsel
Go hiking with us to the famous, myterious Pfaueninsel!
The Pfaueninsel (translated: peacock island) between Berlin and Potsdam is characterized by stories and books that describe the island as a mysterious and idyllic place.
Friedrich Willhelm II. had the peacock island designed after French and English summer residences and imported exotic plants and animals (as well as the famous peacocks). Later, Peter Joseph Lenné transformed the Pfaueninsel into an impressive landscape garden.
Today, the Pfaueninsel is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and definitely worth a day trip from Berlin! Together we will undertake a hike from the Wannsee S-Bahn station to the ferry pier to Pfaueninsel. There we set out on the mysterious island and discover the picturesque landscape within a circular route. On the way back we will walk through the Volkspark Klein-Glienicke, to the castle of Glienicke and then to the Glienicker Bridge. From there we take the bus back to the Wannsee S-Bahn station.
Program (subject to change!):
