Call: Intercultural writing group TextTransit (English only)

In our "TextTransit" writing group, students work on their texts over the course of a semester under the guidance of a writer. Texts of any literary genre can be submitted. Also, students of all disciplines can apply. TextTransit is meant to be intercultural. In other words, the group is open to creative writing students who deal with intercultural topics, speak and write other languages or write as non-native speakers. The focus of the group is up to the group leader. 

This winter semester, the Nigerian writer Elnathan John will lead the group. Elnathan John works with English texts and the course language will also be English. Texts can also be submitted in Hausa. Important: English does not necessarily have to be your mother tongue. The aim of the group is to improve your own literary writing through continuous work on the texts over the course of a semester. Equally important is the critical exchange between the group participants and the collaboration: at the end of the semester, a literary event or joint reading will be organized by the group. 

We look forward to receiving your application by 19 September 2024 until 1:00 pm. You can apply using the application form below, taking into account the conditions of participation. The head of the writing group will select the texts and then inform the selected participants by October 1. The meetings will take place in Charlottenburg on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. in the studierendenWERK rooms at Hardenbergstraße 34. There will be meetings on the following dates:

• October: 23.10., 30.10.

• November: 6.11., 13.11., 20.11., 27.11.
• December: 4.12., 11.12.
• January: 8.1., 15.1., 29.1.

Final readings are expected to take place on January 22.

The letter of motivation should be 1/4 to 1 page, the text sample 1-3 pages.

The participation fee for the course is 25 €.
