Job Placement Service and Trainings

What Students Need to Know

Step 1: Registration

To use our agency services, students have to register with us. This can only be done in person during our office hours. Please ensure that you bring along all the documents from our checklist. The user fees are €19.50 per semester.

Step 2: Online Job Search

Job offers reach us from a wide range of areas. The options on offer range from online marketing to driving to helping people move house. All current vacancies can be viewed in the online database.

Step 3: Putting You in Contact

If all the employer’s preconditions are met, you can be placed in contact with the employer as per our Guidelines. This is done via the online agency website.

Direct job: The first one to respond gets the job. Via email, we will send you a placement certificate with the employer’s contact details. You then immediately get in contact with the employer to discuss how you will be deployed.

Applicant Job:  We send several applicants information on the advertised position. You then send an application to the employer, who will then make a selection.

A person’s first job is often associated with many questions about tax assessment, social security contributions and all the legal requirements which arise. Likewise with questions such as “am I applying in the right way?” or “what rights and responsibilities do I have as student temp worker?”, there are many uncertainties.

studierendenWERK BERLIN offers a range of support and advisory services and workshops to make it easier to make the transition from study to career. For students who have to work during their studies, we offer training courses that provide additional qualifications and knowledge and improve chances on the labour market.

Events – such as employment law, tax return tips, correspondence training – provide practical tips for everyday (professional) life. All trainings are offered in german. Therefore you'll find more informations only on the german version of this page.

Please change language for more details on our current trainings.

What Employers Need to Know

Step 1: Submitting the Job Listing

Are you looking for student temp workers? Whether its long-term qualified support or short-term, simple work, we at the Placement Service are happy to help you to find someone. You can submit your offer by phone by dialling 030 93939 – 9030 or by email at jobvermittlung@stw.berlin.

We need the following information/documents from you:

  • The signed mediation agreement
  • Your full contact details
  • Number of workers required and deployment location
  • Start of employment and duration of employment
  • Working hours and wages
  • Requirements or activity profile for the post

The quickest and easiest way is to use our online form to submit your job listing. You can find this here.

Step 2: Looking for Students

Now it’s our move: the studierendenWERK BERLIN has direct contacts to Berlin’s students and can certainly find you a temp. Around 3,500 students are registered with our mediation service, and we get through around 11,000 job mediations and placements every year. Your ad will appear on our homepage, on our Facebook and Instagram pages, as well as on the more than 50 infoboards and videowalls that we have installed on the campuses of all major universities in Berlin.

Step 3: Getting Students Placed

Depending on the job listing, you will wait around 4 to 7 days before the first students get in touch with you.

If you advertised a direct job (e.g. for a one-off temp job, such as helping someone move house), the choice has already been made. The student that gets in contact with you is the one that has got the job. You only then have to fill out the placement certificate and confirm that the student actually did the job.

For applicant jobs, you make the choice. The students simply send you an application. As soon as you have made your decision, please provide us with the confirmation of which applicant you have hired.

We will promptly provide you with an invoice for the resulting mediation fees.
